After the proper amount of myofascial therapy is conducted we move to retraining not only muscle function but the connection between mind and muscle or Neuromuscular Coordination. This is done in conjunction with the muscles worked in myofascial therapy and is a basic reactivation with concentration on tension under lengthening of the muscle or muscles through proper postural alignment and control. Heavy resistance is not necessary but tension is and the focus is on the eccentric portion (some people call it the negative or “easier” part of the movement) of the muscles action or its intended purpose in respect to its range of motion. This process is retraining your brain and muscle to fire correctly and is essential to reprogramming proper neurofunction to the previously dysfunctional tissue. Finally comes strength training, to begin the process we work multi-joint functional kinetic chain exercises to ensure proper function through bigger, everyday movements. Once function, balance and control are established we are free to start transforming lives through Personal Training. We must fix dysfunction before adding intensity.
Everyone develops muscular dysfunction to some degree. Muscle dysfunction happens when incorrect repetitive movements become a strain on a particular muscle or muscle groups. When this happens other muscles can be recruited to fulfill the actions of the overworked (or inhibited) muscle or muscle groups. This can result in pain and/or discomfort and most likely happens over a long period of time (sometimes years). We call this compensation and when this happens it can lead to many many disorders. Compensation can develop in many ways, some ways are (but not limited to) injuries, repetitive employment movements (as we tend to do the same thing day in and day out for work), gravity (yes, gravity), shoes, cell phones, computers, what position you sleep in and even your favorite recliner or couch!!! The list is actually endless!!! You may be thinking all is lost but that’s not true. There is a way to fight back!! 5 Point Myotherapy is here to help fix this dysfunction. By the proper movement assessments and the knowledge of human physiology 5 Point Myotherapy can find these overworked (inhibited) muscles and release them using a manual release technique called ICT (Inhibition Compression Technique) followed by a highly developed and respect assisted stretch technique called FST (Fascial Stretch Therapy from the Stretch to Win Institute). This is what we call “soft tissue manipulation” and it is the beginning of our journey into reprogramming dysfunctional muscle. The next step is to retrain these newly released muscles through “corrective exercise”. Some people look at this stage like “Physical Therapy” exercises. The final stage is the strengthening side to help form proper neuromuscular pathways through postural training and functional kinetic chain movements (correct muscular movements embedded into your daily routine so these incorrect patterns do not continue).
Successfully correct dysfunction and relieve pain and discomfort which will ultimately save the cartilage in joints that deteriorate from imbalance dysfunctional muscle tissue. Ultimately leading to a better quality of life and longer mobility by optimizing muscle tissue function.
Get the best of your training by corrective and precise lifting to optimize your healthiest lifestyle yet.

Robyn CombsNovember 1, 2023 After being told my knee needed surgery I looked for an alternative. After working with 5 Point Myotherapy my knee has been rehabbed and surgery is no longed needed. I highly recommend a second opinion from their knowledgeable staff. Rachel TenisonOctober 31, 2023 Ian has done amazing work on me for the past year and helped me with my pain management/mobility issues immensely. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and skilled at his soft tissue work. He is very courteous and prompt when it comes to scheduling and genuinely cares about the well-being of his clients. I would highly recommend him to anyone I know. Nadene NOctober 19, 2023 Ian has helped me gain my strength and confidence back after two hip replacements and a knee replacement. I had pretty much given up. I’m a RN and Ian’s knowledge of the human body is very impressive! He has given me my life back. I have my daughter going too. I would highly recommend him. Thank you so much Ian! Sara KnappOctober 19, 2023 My husband and I have been clients of Ian for 6 or 7 years. He has a knack for zeroing in on the origin of an issue and has never failed to alleviate the pain or tightness. He uses a combination of focused pressure and stretching that always leaves me feeling much better. After my husband was in a serious accident, Ian was very supportive, working on my husband's balance, proper walking form, range of motion, etc. I am certain that the regular sessions have kept him much more mobile that he would have been otherwise. We really appreciate the care that we have received from Ian and highly recommend his services. PV SwensonOctober 18, 2023 Been with Ian for 6 months now and he’s KNOWS WHAT HES DOING! High impact body work from an absolute pro. 👊👊 Abraham LopezOctober 18, 2023 Helped healed my muscles and made pain go away and taught me how to properly take care of my muscles, 10/10 recommend!! Grace NevillOctober 17, 2023 Amazing experience, made me walk out feeling 100%, helped healed my lower back pain and I feel amazing! 10/10 recommend worth every penny!! Jenna FooteFebruary 27, 2020 Ian saved me! I had debilitating chronic pain for over 7 years and had all but given up on figuring out a solution. I decided to give myofascial therapy a try, and I'm so glad I did. Immediate relief after just one appointment! It felt like a miracle. I have been seeing him regularly for a year and my life has been completely changed. I look forward to it every week. Not only has Ian released my fascia, but he has increased my mobility through stretching and has also taught me how to properly activate the muscles. He is one of a kind and I highly recommend him.
